"M" is for Mystery ... and More is one of the largest and most complete mystery, crime and thriller bookstores in the United States. We first opened our doors in late 1996 on East Third Avenue, in the heart of San Mateo, just 15 minutes South of San Francisco International Airport.

| A look inside our store |
We offer the largest selection of new mystery, crime and detective fiction of any bookstore in the SF Bay Area. We host an active schedule of author readings and signings in our store and peninsula libraries, averaging 150-200 such events per year. And we also obtain a large number (perhaps 200 titles) of author signed first edition books directly from the authors who do not travel to our area. We carry a very extensive selection of collectible and used books, and a growing selection of general and literary fiction and nonfiction titles as well. And finally we carry an extensive selection of hardcover (many signed by the author) and paperback books published in the United Kingdom, which are not carried by any other bookstore in the Bay Area.

"M" is for Mystery ... and More is an independent bookstore, and is a member of the American Booksellers Association, Northern California Independent Booksellers Association, Indie Bound, the Mystery Writers of America, and Sisters in Crime.
Every week we send a free email newsletter to over 4000 subscribers in more than 30 states and 15 foreign countries highlighting upcoming author events, all newly arrived signed first editions and other information of interest. It's easy to order from our store. If you would like to purchase any book mentioned on this website, simply cut-and-paste the appropriate information and email us at info@MforMystery.com with your order. You can also fax your order to (650) 401-8079. Telephone us directly at 650-401-8077 or toll free outside the Bay Area at (888) 405-8077. Our expert staff can recommend good books for all your interests.
"M" is for Mystery gladly accepts special orders at no extra charge, including non-mystery titles.
We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express credit cards. We ship anywhere.
All books are shipped bubble wrapped and boxed. Orders usually ship within 2 business days, sent by U.S. Mail. The standard rate is $6.00 for the first book and $1.35 for any additional books in the same box, based on books weighing 2.2 LB, or 1 KG. If your book order is heavy or oversized, we may contact you to let you know extra shipping is required. Special rates apply to priority mail and shipping outside the U.S. and will be determined on a case by case basis. We will quote the price to you by e-mail prior to shipping.

"M" is for Mystery is located at 86 East Third Avenue in San Mateo, California. We're just minutes from the San Francisco International Airport, and about 25 minutes from downtown San Francisco. San Mateo is surrounded by Hillsborough and Burlingame, and is convenient to Palo Alto and Menlo Park. We are the only complete mystery bookstore south of San Francisco.
From the 101 Freeway, take the Third Avenue Exit (San Mateo), and go west 10 blocks.
From the 280 Freeway, take Highway 92 east and exit at El Camino Real North. Proceed north on El Camino to Third Avenue and turn right.
From the East Bay on Highway 92, exit at El Camino Real North. Proceed north on El Camino to Third Avenue and turn right.
We are on Third Avenue between San Mateo Drive and El Camino Real on the south side of the street.
